Josh Chambers
- Title:
- Director of Creative
Josh Chambers begins his fifth season at Texas A&M as the team’s director of creative and ninth year as a member of head coach Buzz Williams’ staff in 2023-24.
Among his litany of duties are coming up with creative ways to implement Coach Williams’ cultural philosophy on and off the court, writing lesson plans and designing presentation outlines that help educate players and staff on leadership and relative team related topics, as well as developing supplementary content that facilitates objectives within team meetings, practices, and other Coach Williams speaking engagements.
Chambers also oversees the facility designs and signage around the building, ensuring messaging, quotes, and aesthetics coincide with Coach Williams and Texas A&M core values.
Chambers is responsible for coming up with and bringing the ideas to life with the design and presentation of Aggie Basketball’s famous ‘Quote Shirts’ — a staple of Coach Williams’ programs: a collection of 12 uniquely designed shirts, given out annually only to members of the organization, used to teach players and staff life lessons to benefit their lives outside of basketball.
Chambers oversees the design of all recruiting materials, as well as providing assistance on Williams’ @TeamCoachBuzz social media platforms.
Additionally, Chambers manages a group student content creators and serves as the team’s liaison to the men’s basketball social team.
Chambers first joined Williams’ staff at Virginia Tech as a graphic designer in 2016. As his responsibilities evolved, Chambers’ title changed to director of recruiting operations. His responsibilities included creation of all recruiting content coming from within the program, facility re-design, managing the recruiting mailing lists, social media outreach and game uniform and practice gear designs.
Prior to joining the Hokies, Chambers worked as vice president of strategic planning under Nike’s director of international basketball and hall of fame coach George Raveling in Los Angeles. He worked directly with Raveling on consulting projects involving Nike, USA Basketball, the Los Angeles Clippers, the AAU, the Basketball Hall of Fame and a variety of high-major NCAA basketball programs.
In 2015, Chambers started his own collegiate athletics recruiting company named Won’t Lose Designs. This company serviced more than 10 Division I programs, including a variety of men’s and women’s amateur sports as well as several NBA players.
A native of Lorton, Virginia, Chambers earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Virginia Tech in 2014. He was a student manager for the Hokie basketball team for two seasons under coach James Johnson (2013-14) and Williams (2014-15). He donated his athletics scholarship that he received as a manager to the ALS Association in honor of his late father, Col. Jay Chambers, who passed from Lou Gehrig’s disease in 2010. As a part of a variety of charity projects, Chambers has raised over $10,000 for the ALS association, and continues to stay passionate about spreading awareness and the ongoing search for a cure.
