Cal Furgal plays an integral role in the success of the Texas A&M men’s basketball program in his second season as the team’s graduate assistant in 2023-24.
The versatile and resourceful Furgal handles all manner of tasks relating to head coach Buzz Williams’s daily schedule and calendar. One of the first people at the basketball facility in the morning and last to leave, Furgal also provides statistical metrics analysis for the team and is responsible for the upkeep of the team areas.
Prior to his promotion to graduate assistant, Furgal assisted director of scouting TJ Ryan with practice and opponent film and edited game film live and prepared relevant clips for halftime and postgame analysis.
Additionally, he plays an integral part in the setup and clean-up of various team activities including practice, games and road trips.
A native of Southlake, Texas, Furgal graduated from the prestigious Texas A&M Mays Business School in May 2022 with a bachelor’s in business administration and is currently pursuing his master's in sport management. While at Southlake Carroll High School, he helped lead the Dragons to the Class 6A baseball state championship.
