Luke Hillin

A meticulous advocate for the Texas A&M men’s basketball team, Luke Hillin enters his third season as the team’s Chief of Staff in 2023-24 and has more than a decade of experience in various roles with Texas A&M Athletics.
Hillin orchestrates all phases of the daily operations of the Aggie basketball team, including monitoring the program’s budget, team travel, scholarships, housing, camps and clinics and a myriad of other administrative duties.
Hillin originally joined the men’s basketball staff in 2017 and was promoted to director of internal operations in 2019. In that role, Hillin handled a variety in administrative tasks, including budgeting, team travel, scouting, summer camp and the staff’s day-to-day operations.
The Houston native returned to Texas A&M after a one-year stint as the director of operations for the Houston Baptist (now Houston Christian) men’s basketball team under the program’s all-time winningest head coach, Ron Cottrell. At HBU, Hillin oversaw all facets of the team’s daily administrative duties, oversaw the program’s video needs, community efforts, summer camps, academics, nutrition and travel.
Hillin earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas A&M in 2015 and his MBA from Houston Baptist in 2021. He was a four-year letterwinner as a student manager for the Aggie football team from 2012-15. He ascended to the football team’s head student manager role and was a part of four bowl teams – 2013 Cotton, 2013 Chick-fil-A Peach, 2014 Liberty and 2015 Music City. After graduation, he interned with the Texas A&M men’s basketball team, assisting with administrative and camp duties during and following the Aggies’ Sweet 16 campaign in 2015-16.
Hillin’s father, Bobby Hillin Jr., enjoyed a long and successful NASCAR career, which included becoming the youngest driver at that time to win a Winston Cup Series race with his victory at the Talladega 500 at age 22 in 1986. He had a pair of victories on the Xfinity Series, taking the checkered flag at the 1988 Budweiser 200 at Dover Motor Speedway in Delaware and the 1989 GM Parts 300 at Nazareth Speedway in Pennsylvania. For his career that spanned three decades, Hillin Jr. posted 68 top 10 finishes along with three victories.
Hillin and his wife, Maddie, have two children, Charlotte and Walker. Maddie Hillin, also a 2015 Texas A&M graduate, is the Chief Operating Officer at the George and Barbara Bush Foundation in College Station.
