2018 (SENIOR): Named to the SEC’s All-Defensive Team and Community Service Team … Started in 55 games at CF … Batted .271 with five doubles and nine RBI … Made 72 putouts with three assists and no errors for a 1.000 fielding percentage … Scored 16 runs and stole two bases … Matched her career high in RBI with three as she went 2-for-2 with two runs against Baylor in the Regional Championship (5/20) … Made SportsCenter’s Top 10 three times with a diving catch against Florida (3/26) and twice against Alabama (5/4) … Drove in two in the SEC opener against Ole Miss (3/9) … tied her career high with two walks against Texas Tech (2/10).
2017 (JUNIOR): Appeared in 58 games, starting 56 at CF … Hit .250 with four doubles, a triple, two home runs and 17 RBI … Was a perfect 8-for-8 in stolen base attempts … Tied a career high with three hits against No. 11/9 Tennessee (5/6) … Belted her first home run of the season against No. 23 BYU at the Mary Nutter Classic (2/25) … Robbed No. 1 Florida State’s Ellie Cooper of a home run to keep the game scoreless, play made SportsCenter’s Top 10.
2016 (SOPHOMORE): Appeared in 59 games, starting in 57 … Hit two home runs in the Aggies’ series win over Auburn … Helped lead A&M over Texas in the NCAA Lafayette Regional, scoring three times and driving in a runner … Was a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts … Recorded a .987 fielding percentage with 76 putouts and one assist.
2015 (FRESHMAN): Saw playing time in 57 games, making 43 starts … Scored 23 runs on 22 hits, including three doubles and two home runs … Held a slugging percentage of .301 and on-base percentage of .386 while drawing 27 walks.
Previous Athletic Background: Russell was a local product set on rewriting the Bryan High School record books. She ranked No. 2 in assists (189), No. 5 in runs (99) and No. 3 in home runs after her junior season. The four-year starter was named First Team All-State in 2013 by the Texas Sports Writers Association and earned the Vikings’ Triple D Award for defense, determination and dedication, while setting the school record for assists in a season with 92. Russell was TSWA Honorable Mention All-State in 2012, when the Lady Vikings won a district championship, and TSWA All-District in 2011. The three-time All-District 12-5A honoree was named both All Brazos Valley and Academic All-District for the past three seasons as well. Russell was also a two-year varsity volleyball letterman while splitting her extra time with the National Honor Society, the Bryan High Choir and Young Life. She played summer ball for Coach KC Jackson and the Texas Impact Gold, winning third at the 2013 Gold Triple Crown Nationals.
