2015 (JUNIOR): Defended her NCAA title in the discus while claiming a third consecutive SEC title with another conference record performance ... Finished third in the USATF Championships to earn a place on the United States team that competed in the IAAF World Championships held in Beijing, China ... Placed 14th in the qualifying round at World Championships (197-7 | 60.24) ... Remained undefeated among collegiate competition for the third consecutive season in winning eight meets ... Opened with collegiate leading marks for 2015 at Arizona State Baldy Castillo Invitational (195-2 | 59.49) and Texas Relays (201-8 | 61.48) ... Vaughan broke the Texas Relays record of 199-2 (60.71) set in 2006 by Nebraska's Becky Breisch ... It was Vaughan's third consecutive collegiate discus title at the Texas Relays ... Then she claimed wins at Stanford Invitational (194-2 | 59.19|, Sun Angel Classic (192-7 | 58.70) and TCU Horned Frog Invitational (192-7 | 58.69) ... 2014 (SOPHOMRE): Returning to the venue where three fouls last May knocked her out of the NCAA Championships, Shelbi Vaughan broke her Aggie record in the Texas Relays discus as she heaved the platter a career best of 198 feet, 10 inches (60.61) ... The distance places Vaughan equal No. 10 on the U.S. collegian all-time list with Arizona State’s Anna Jelmini, the 2013 NCAA champion ... In defending her Texas Relays title, Vaughan bettered the field by 24 feet and came within four inches of the meet record, 199-2 (60.71) ... The victory for Vaughan is her sixth win at the Texas Relays over the past four seasons ... Last year Vaughan claimed the discus title with a throw of 183-9 (56.00) and also won the B division shot put ... During her senior high school season Vaughan swept the 2012 shot put and discus titles and she also won the discus title in 2011 ... Opened the 2014 outdoor season with a victory at the UTSA Texas Challenge Invitational in San Antonio, reaching a distance of 182-10 ...

2013 (FRESHMAN): Broke the Texas A&M school record in the discus in her first meet outdoors with a throw of 185-0 (56.40) and improved it to 193-4 (58.93) during the course of the season … Currently has the top eight performances in school history above the previous school record of 176-10 set in 2003 … Undefeated by collegians, until she had three fouls at the NCAA West preliminary round … Won the SEC title with a throw of 185-10 (56.65) … After finishing second to a professional athlete at Arizona State’s Castillo Invitational, Vaughan recorded seven consecutive victories in the discus … Wins included a 188-8 (57.50) at UTA’s Bobby Lane Invitational, 183-9 (56.00) at the Texas Relays, 193-4 (58.93) at Oregon’s Pepsi Team Invitational, 185-4 (56.49) at Arkansas’ John McDonnell Invitational, 186-8 (56.90) at LSU’s Alumni Gold Invitational, 189-3 (57.69) at Texas State’s Bobcat Classic … Had a pair of fouls in first two rounds of SEC meet, then produced the winning throw in round three as her 185-10 bettered the field by eight feet, six inches … a back injury after the conference meet affected her performance during the NCAA preliminary round where three fouls prevented her from advancing to the NCAA CHampionships in Eugene …
Improved her outdoor shot put career best to 51-9 ¼ (15.78) for second place at Arkansas’ McDonnell Invitational … The mark ranks No. 2 on the Aggie all-time list behind school record holder Kasey Onwuchekwa (56-11 ½) … Her outdoor season in the shot put included – 46-4 ¼ (14.13) for third place at Castillo Invitational, 48-7 ¼ (14.81) for third at Bobby Lane Invitational, 49-9 ¾ (15.18) to win B section of Texas Relays, 47-7 ¼ (14.51) to win Oregon Pepsi Team Invitational, 48-0 ¾ (14.65) for fifth at LSU Alumni Gold, 48-2 (14.68) for eighth at Bobcat Classic, and 49-0 ¾ (14.95) for 11th at SEC.
Indoors, placed 12th in the shot put at SEC Championships with a mark of 48-6 ... Set an indoor PR of 48-10 (14.88) in finishing fourth at Texas A&M Invitational ... Placed third in first two meets competing as an Aggie, hitting a 48-4 at the Texas A&M 12-team Invitational and a 46-11.5 at the Texas A&M Triangular ... Placed eighth at the A&M Mondo Challenge (44-10.75) and 21st at Armory Collegiate Invitational in New York City.
HIGH SCHOOL: 2012 graduate of Mansfield Legacy High School ... Gatorade National Track and Field Athlete of the Year ... Named 2012 Girls Athlete of the Year by Track & Field News, which noted Vaughan was the most dominant force on the high school scene in 2012, boy or girl ... An unanimous selection among the T&F News voting panel, Vaughan became just the eighth athlete to earn all the No. 1 votes since the girls Athlete of the Year award was first presented in 1977 and she became the first field eventer to compile a perfect score of 180 points ... Earned All-America status by T&F News in both discus and shot put, ranking No. 1 among prep discus and No. 5 among prep shot put ... Ended her senior season in high school with career best marks of 50-1.25 in the shot put and 198-9 in the discus, which ranked fifth and first on the high school list for 2012 ... Senior campaign at Legacy included a discus victory at Texas Relays in late March with a mark of 191-6 that bettered the previous high school national record by 15 inches ... Defended her State discus title in May with a mark of 187-10 ... Won the Golden West Invitational in June and improved her national high school record to 191-11 ... Broke the American Junior record twice during the USATF Junior Championships held in mid-June, reaching distances of 196-11 and 198-9 after opening the competition with two fouls ... Competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon where she placed fourth among a field of professional athletes and collegians ... Her best effort of 195-0 left her less than two feet out of third place ... Represented the United States at the World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain, placing third with a mark of 197-1.
As a junior in 2011, her best marks measured 46-11 in shot put and 166-8 in discus ... Texas Relays discus champion (159-0) and fifth place in shot put (42-5.25) ... Double champion in Region I-5A with a 46-11 shot put and 146-7 discus ... Won Texas State 5A discus title with a toss of 161-0 while finishing second in shot put with a 44-11.25 effort ... USATF Junior champion in discus (165-5), placed sixth in shot put (42-8.75) ... Finished second in discus (159-10) and third in shot put (45-8) during World Youth Trials held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina ... Began playing volleyball when she was 12 years old...High school fans nicknamed her "The Hammer" ... Chose to sign with the Aggies because she fell in love with everything about A&M ... Volunteers to feed the homeless the last Sunday of every month and also does volunteer work with special needs students ...
