Jason Meyer pitched 3.2 scoreless innings in relief for No. 9 Texas A&M but Baylor starter Mark McCormick made the most of his early run support as the Aggies dropped their second straight game to Baylor, 5-0, before 3,905 at the Baylor Ballpark.
Meyer allowed just one hit and fanned three Baylor hitters in his time on the mound.
The night belonged to Baylor starter Mark McCormick(2-2), however. McCormick tossed a complete-game shutout and allowed just five hits while striking out seven.
With the loss, the Aggies dropped to 20-4 overall and 0-2 in Big 12 action. The Bears improved to 8-13 and 2-0 in league play.
The Aggies will look to salvage a game out of the three-game set on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Waco.
Josh Ford delivered a two-out RBI single off A&M starting pitcher Justin Moore to score Drew Sutton and give the Bears a 1-0 lead after the first inning.
Sutton drove in a run with a double and Kyle Reynolds plated a run with a sacrifice fly to left in the bottom of the second to increase the Baylor lead to 3-0.
Ford hit his fourth homerun of the season and his fourth in the last three games and a RBI double by pinch hitter Reid Brees scored a run and chased Moore from the game.
Moore (3-1) lasted 4.1 innings, allowing five runs on 10 hits.
