Jason Meyer made a second inning home run by Cory Patton hold up as No. 14 Texas A&M slipped by Missouri, 1-0, in front of 4,846 fans at Olsen Field.
Meyer (8-0) pitched his first complete game of the year and scattered seven hits while striking out eight.
Patton accounted for the only A&M run with a solo home run in the bottom of the second. The long ball was his sixth of the season and his fourth in the last five games.
With the win, the Aggies improved to 32-12 overall and to 8-8 in Big 12 play. Missouri dropped to 24-15-1 and 4-9.
Missouri received a stellar outing from its starting pitcher as Danny Hill (3-3) allowed just three hits in his seven innings of work. He fanned four and did not allow a free pass.
Meyer escaped jams with double plays in the second, third, fourth and sixth innings. The four double plays by Texas A&M tied a school record for a single game.
Meyer's biggest scare came in the top of the eighth. With one out, Meyer hit Zane Taylor and a fly ball out by James Boone was followed by a single by Lee Laskowski. With runners on first and second and two away, the Tigers' leading hitter, Cody Ehlers lined a shot to the gap in left-center field. John Infante made a spectacular diving catch to save two runs and preserve the lead.
Game two of the series is slated for 7 p.m. on Saturday at Olsen Field.
