No. 10 Texas A&M managed just three hits on Tuesday night as Texas State defeated the Aggies 1-0 in front of 4,597 fans at Olsen Field.
With the loss, the Aggies dropped to 33-13 while the Bobcats improved to 25-19.
Texas A&M last lost a 1-0 game in the 1993 season to Southwest Texas (now Texas State). That loss ended the Aggies' 14-game winning streak.
A&M returns to Big 12 action this weekend when they travel to Lincoln for a three-game set against Nebraska. First pitch for game one is set for 6:35 p.m. at Haymarket Park.
Texas State starter Joey Gonzalez (1-1) retired the first 11 men he faced and allowed just two hits over his six innings of work.
Three Bobcat relievers Michael Gultz, Gabe Wisneski and Dominic Ramos combined to shutout the Aggies the rest of the way. Ramos pitched a perfect ninth to earn his fifth save of the season.
Matt Miller's RBI single in the top of the fourth, plated Kyle Anson to score the game's only run. Anson singled to start the inning and moved to second on a slow grounder to third by Evan Tierce.
Dan Donaldson (0-1) shouldered the loss, allowing the game's only run. He allowed just three hits in his four innings of work on the mound.
Austin Creps, Doug Frame and Blake Rampy held Texas State scoreless for the final five innings. Rampy allowed one hit and recorded the final seven outs of the game.
