
Aggies Earn Bid to NCAA Tournament

The Texas A&M men's basketball team will face Syracuse on Thursday, March 16 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the selection committee announced Sunday.
The Aggies earned a No. 12 seed in the Atlanta regional and will travel to Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Jacksonville, Fla. for first- and second-round action. A&M will meet 5th-seeded Syracuse in the first round on Thursday at approximately 8:40 p.m. (CST). The Aggies and Orange will play the final game of the day in Jacksonville and will tip 30 minutes following the completion of the LSU/Iona game, which will begin at 6:10 p.m. (CST).
The berth marks A&M's seventh trip to the NCAA Tournament and first since 1987. The Aggies' best showings were trips to the Sweet Sixteen in 1969 and 1980. Other NCAA appearances in school history were 1951, 1954 and 1975.
Texas A&M enters the tournament with a 21-8 overall record. The Aggies finished 10-6 and in fourth place in the Big 12, marking its most victories in league play and highest finish in the conference since the Big 12's inception in the 1996-97 season.
Syracuse (23-11) earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament by virtue of winning the Big East Tournament championship last weekend.
Tickets are not available through either Texas A&M or the host school, Jacksonville University.
