NASHVILLE – The Texas A&M men's basketball team is set for SEC Tournament action at Bridgestone Arena this week, beginning play Thursday, March 12 at approximately 8:30 p.m. on SEC Network. The Aggies await the winner of Wednesday's first round finale between South Carolina and Oklahoma.
The Maroon & White closed out the regular season with a 21-10 record on the year, sitting at 11-7 in league play. They used a pair of victories in the final week to register their fifth consecutive 20-win season and a fourth-place finish in the SEC, their best since 2022-23 and their sixth top-five finish since joining the conference.
Rylan Griffen made it back-to-back career games to cap off the regular season. He matched his career-high with 21 points to lead five players in double-figures in the 96-85 win over Kentucky at Reed Arena. He followed it up by filling out the stat sheet in the 94-91 triple overtime battle in Baton Rouge, posting career-bests with 24 points, five 3-pointers, seven rounds, six steals and three blocks. On the year, Griffen's 1.7 steals per game have helped the Aggies lead the league in forced turnovers (13.8) and rank third in steals (8.4). They sit in fourth among Power 4 teams in both categories.
Rashaun Agee continues to dominate of both ends of the floor scoring 15-plus points in five of the last six games and registering 15 double-digit rebounding games this season. He is coming off a 24-point, 11-rebound performance at LSU. The double-double against the Tigers was the 12th of the season for Agee and tied him with Tyler Davis for Texas A&M's single-season record. Agee closed league play averaging 16.1 points and 9.3 rebounds, which helped him earn All-SEC Third Team accolades. On the year, he ranks second among league players a with 8.8 rebounds and 6.2 defensive boards per game.
The Aggies are No. 8 in the country in scoring offense with 88.5 points per game and sit in 14th knocking down 10.9 3-pointers per game. They rank third nationally and lead the conference scoring 36.3 bench points per game. Zach Clemence and Pop Isaacs have helped lead the bench production throughout the year and had a strong finish to the regular season. Clemence registered three 20-point games in league play and has added 12.5 points and 4.5 rebounds over the last four games, while Isaacs has been filling out the stat sheet and averaged 14.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.7 steals through the last three games.
Texas A&M topped both Oklahoma and South Carolina in each of the previous meetings this season. The Aggies took down the Sooners 83-76 at Reed Arena in the second week of conference play and later picked up a 75-71 win on the road to make it four straight victories in the series. The Maroon & White have claimed three of the last four matchups with the Gamecocks after handling business with a 92-69 win at Reed Arena in January.
