The Aggies head into this weekend with a 36-6, 9-3 Big 12 record. On Wednesday, A&M beat the Oklahoma State Cowgirls in both games of the doubleheader at the Aggie Softball Complex. Freshman Alex Reynolds and junior Amanda Scarborough each hit a long ball en route to the 2-1 and 4-0 victories.
Scarborough ended the evening having gone 3-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored. Scarborough, who is currently hitting .328, leads the team in triples (5), doubles (9) and RBIs (38). The pitcher/first baseman from Magnolia, Texas boasts an 18-4 record with a 1.02 ERA in 144.1 innings pitched. Scarborough has 155 strikeouts this season and has held opposing batters to a .164 average.
Under the direction of first-year head coach Ehren Earleywine, the Tigers are 32-18 overall and 8-1 in Big 12 play. Mizzou's only conference loss this season came at the hands of the Oklahoma Sooners (8-3) last weekend. On Wednesday, the Tigers swept the doubleheader against the Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence, Kan. (3-0, 1-0).
Amanda Renth leads the Tigers in RBIs (51) and home runs (13). The junior infielder has started all 50 of Missouri's games. In the circle, Jen Bruck holds a 15-5 record with 103 strikeouts. The senior has a 3.03 ERA.
The Aggies lead the all-time series against the Tigers 25-18. Last year, A&M won the conference series, beating Mizzou 4-2 and 8-0 in College Station. The Tigers eliminated the Aggies from tournament play at the Big 12 Championship in Oklahoma City, with a 5-3 victory.
The series finale is scheduled for Sunday at 12 p.m.
