POSTGAME QUOTES & NOTES
UNC WILMINGTON HEAD COACH BENNY MOSS: "I want to give credit to A&M. They really wore us down throughout the game. Our guys did some stuff better then they have been, but we gave up too many points in the paint. Our effort is fine but our guys have to learn that playing hard is not enough. We need to start playing smart. We need to get better on defense. We didn't put up enough of a fight to beat a team this good."
TEXAS A&M HEAD COACH Mark Turgeon: "They controlled the pace of the game. This was a little different of a style than they have been playing. I would not say that we played well. One thing I was pleased about is that we were not selfish. We played 10 to 12 minutes in the second half of good defense. They played really small. Junior (Elonu) was able to rebound well and played very good on defense. We started playing well as the game went on but they scored on us a lot at the end of the game."
TEXAS A&M FORWARD Chinemelu Elonu: "Coach told me I needed confidence to try and score as much I could. I worked hard to be a starter on this team and I don't want that taken away. Playing that up and down style is a little bit fun. I want to get 15 rebounds a game for the rest of the season. Rebounding is how I got to this level and I need to get back to that."
TEXAS A&M GUARD B.J. Holmes: "It feels good to make a few shots in a row in a game. I do it all the time in practice, but until tonight, I haven't found them in a game. Coach told us to come out and play hard and take shots. I think we did a good job of shutting them down."
