
Aggie seniors pace men to sixth-place finish at Big 12 Championships

Columbia, Missouri - Big 12 Championship competition in cross country resulted in a sixth-place finish for the Texas A&M men while the women placed 11th on the Gustin Golf Course at the University of Missouri.
Oklahoma State won the men's team title while the women's title went to Texas Tech as both programs retained championships won last season.
The Aggie men totaled 171 points for sixth place. Oklahoma State totaled 24 for the team win followed by Colorado (56), Oklahoma (75), Iowa State (107), Texas (132).
Andrew Montes led the A&M men's senior trio once again with a strong kick in the final stages to finish ahead of teammate Mitch Bible. Montes covered the 8,000-meter course in 25:45.56 for 26th place with Bible taking 27th in 25:46.29.
Joe Sauvageau was the next Aggie finisher in 33rd with a clocking of 25:54.29. Placing fourth and fifth on the A&M squad were James Hodges, in 39th (26:01.72), and Kevin Burnett, in 50th (26:15.20).
Other finishers for the Aggie men were Jimmy Welin (57th - 26:31.18), Graham Northcutt (63rd - 26:47.31), C.J. Brown (97th - 28:21.24).
With 243 points the A&M women placed 11th. Texas Tech scored 38 points for the team victory ahead of 52 points for Colorado. Rounding out the top five squads were Iowa State (85), Nebraska (143) and Kansas (160).
Christina Munoz led the Aggie women for the third consecutive season at the Big 12 meet, placing 34th with a time of 22:39.75 over the 6,000-meter course.
Next to finish on the course for A&M were Natosha Rogers and Katherine Devlin in 50th and 51st with times of 23:13.35 and 23:15.79, respectively.
Tara Upshaw claimed the fourth scoring position for the Aggies, placing 54th in 23:23.13 as Amanda Jenkins rounded out the team score for A&M in 58th with a time of 23:30.57.
Also running for the Aggie women were Amber Weems (61st - 23:37.20), Kirsten Brown (78th - 24:13.10).
