WILMER, Texas - The third-ranked Texas A&M equestrian team saw its five-show win streak come to an end on Friday morning as the Aggies fell to SMU, 9-3, at BuckBranch Farm. A&M dropped to 6-3 on the year while the Mustangs improved to 2-4.
SMU opened the competition by sweeping all six rides in fences. A&M Junior Brooke Coleman posted a team discipline-best score of 81 in a four-point loss to SMU's Emily Gardner.
The Aggies split the flat rides, headlined by Christina Heine evened her season record with a three-point defeat of the Mustangs' Claire Wenholz, while sophomore Elizabeth Solch made it four victories in a row after downing Morgan Toal, 72-63.
"It was a challenging day for us, and we will just have to learn from this and continue to work to get better," hunter seat coach Linzy Woolf said. "I was very impressed with Megan's ride, and her MVP award is well-deserved."
Texas A&M's western riders will take to the ring later this evening against TCU, as the Aggies meet the Horned Frogs at 6 p.m. inside John Justin Arena in Fort Worth. The competition is part of the Fort Worth Stock Show.
