
Four Incoming Freshmen Play in ESPN RISE National Championship Final

IRVINE, Calif. - Four Texas A&M softball incoming freshmen played in the championship final of the ESPN RISE National Softball Championship that was televised live nationally on ESPNU at the Deanna Manning Stadium in Bill Barber Park this past weekend.
Emily Albus (Brenham, Texas ), Nicole Morgan (The Woodlands, Texas), Taran Tyler (Katy, Texas) and Cassie Tysarczyk (San Antonio, Texas) each started for the Texas Impact Gold in all 13 games over the course of the six-day national championship.
The Impact Gold, who was fresh off a fourth-place finish at ASA Gold Nationals, ended the tournament as the national runner-up with an 11-2 record on the week. The four incoming freshmen were key in victories over the Corona Angels, Irvine Sting, Jersey Inferno Gold, San Diego Renegades, Victory USA Gold, Cal Cruisers, Combat Panthers, AZ Killer Bees, Sorcerers and the OC Batbusters. The only losses the team faced were to the eventual national champions, So Cal Athletics.
Tysarczyk led all players in the tournament with 17 RBIs and was second with three home runs. Albus was tops with 15 runs and ranked second with 18 hits, including 14 singles. Morgan and Tysarczk also ranked fifth overall with 15 hits. Tyler was positioned fifth with 10 runs and eighth with 11 RBIs.
Each incoming freshman hit over .300 for the tournament and combined for a .392 batting average on the week. Albus led the Impact Gold hitting .444 with seven stolen bases. Tysarczyk added a team-best .703 slugging percentage, while Morgan boasted a team-high .511 on-base percentage.
