Texas A&M University and NeuLion Introduce Tablet App for Aggie Athletics
Oct 14, 2011 | General
Texas A&M Athletics, partnered with NeuLion, Inc, announces today the launch of its new mobile solution for the Apple iPad.
The Texas A&M app, which features on-demand video and live audio, is the first iPad app to stream live video of collegiate athletic events. In addition to live video broadcasts, fans will also have access to live audio events, recent on-demand video clips, schedules, photo galleries, and much more. Fueled by AggieAthletics.com content and powered by NeuLion's technology, the app provides a seamless, cohesive experience between the PC and mobile devices.
Beginning tonight, Aggie Athletics will dual-stream most of its athletic events to 12thManTV on AggieAthletics.com and the iPad. The first live event during this inaugural weekend will be the Aggie Soccer game versus Drake, set to begin at 6:15pm CST. On Saturday afternoon, following the football contest against Baylor at Kyle Field, the post-game press conference will be made available on the iPad for the first time.
"We're thrilled about this app," said Erik Pulverenti, Interim Director of 12th Man Productions at Texas A&M Athletics. "Live video on mobile devices came out at the top of our list of requirements for the next generation of our web presence. It's exciting to see our plans start to come together."
The full functionality and features of the application includes: News, Schedules, Scores, Rosters, Photo Gallery, Live Stats, and includes Live and Video On-Demand along with Live Audio Streaming. All the development, testing and implementation of Texas A&M's mobile app was done by NeuLion's industry experts.
"As fans continue to consume their favorite athletic events through new platforms, delivering highly engaging content to these devices is crucial," noted Ed O'Brien, Vice President, NeuLion College. "Texas A&M is the first collegiate program to distribute all their official athletic content, including LIVE and on-demand video, right to their official iPad app for Aggie fans."
With an emphasis on ease of use and access to content anywhere at any time, Texas A&M University and NeuLion continue to focus on providing an industry-leading, all-inclusive destination for Aggie fans.
The Texas A&M iPad™ app can be downloaded at the iTunes App Store. In order to view live content, you must subscribe to 12thManTV. Don't have a subscription? Sign up FOR FREE at 12thManTV.
