Aggie Soccer Adds Transfer from Oregon State
Jul 05, 2011 | Soccer
COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M soccer head coach G Guerrieri announced the transfer of former Oregon State midfielder Jayne Eadie (Lancashire, England) Tuesday.
Eadie was a member of the Manchester City Ladies FC in England. Her 2008-09 team finished third in the league with twice the previous season's point total. The midfielder has played on the England U-23 Women's National Team and participated in the European Championships with the U-19 squad.
"Jayne has earned playing experience with the Manchester City Ladies FC and for the England U-23 Women's National Team prior to contributing for Oregon State University the last two years," Guerrieri said. "She helped the Beavers to the program's best-ever season in 2009."
As a freshman at Oregon State in 2009, Eadie earned a start in all of the Beavers' contests. She never left the pitch during the team's program-best, three-game run in the NCAA Tournament. In 2010 the sophomore saw playing time in 18 matches, starting in 12, as the Beavers once again earned an NCAA berth and advanced to the second round.
"We are very excited to add Jayne to our team," Guerrieri said. "She comes into our young team with much international and collegiate experience, and will surely add to our already-strong, talented midfield."
Eadie is the daughter of William and Josephine Eadie of Lancashire, England, and has one sister, Jenna. She is eligible to play for the Big 12 Champion Texas A&M soccer team immediately this fall.
The Aggies start their 2011 campaign on the home pitch with a season opener against Fresno State on August 19. The match is slated for a 6:30 p.m. start at the Aggie Soccer Stadium. For more information on A&M soccer, log on to AggieAthletics.com.
