TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Texas A&M wide receivers Jeff Fuller and Ryan Swope were named to the 2011 Biletnikoff Award "watch list," the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced.
Fuller, a senior from McKinney, Texas, was a semifinalist for the 2010 Biletnikoff Award, which is given annually to college football's outstanding receiver. Swope, a junior from Austin, Texas, made his first appearance on the award's watch list. Fuller and Swope are coached by 1999 Biletnikoff Award winner Troy Walters, who is a product of A&M Consolidated High School in College Station, Texas.
Fuller and Swope rewrote the Texas A&M receiving record book in 2010 when the pair both grabbed 72 receptions to break Rod Bernstine's 24-year old single season catches record. With a combined 144 catches in 2010, Fuller and Swope became the most productive pair of receivers in school history.
A first-team All-Big 12 selection in 2010, Fuller became A&M's first-ever 1,000-yard receiver last season when he gained 1,066 yards on his 72 grabs, and he broke his own school record with 12 touchdowns. Swope wasn't far behind with 825 yards from his slot receiver spot, which ranked No. 6 in school history.
Fuller pulled his name out of consideration for the 2011 NFL Draft to return to Texas A&M for his senior season, and he's within easy range of breaking Terrence Murphy's school record for career catches (172) and receiving yards (2,600). Fuller already holds the A&M career record for touchdown catches with 28. He enters 2011 with 163 catches for 2,264 yards.
Other Aggies receiving mention on various "watch lists" are: senior cornerback Coryell Judie -- Bednarik Award (outstanding defensive player); senior placekicker Randy Bullock - Lou Groza Award (outstanding placekicker); Fuller, senior running back Cyrus Gray and senior quarterback Ryan Tannehill - Maxwell Award (outstanding player); Tannehill, Gray and Fuller -- Pony Express Award (outstanding pair or trio).
Several Aggies have been named to the College Football Performance Awards watch lists: Judie (kickoff return and defensive back), junior Dustin Harris (punt return and defensive back), sophomore Damontre Moore (linebacker), Tannehill (quarterback), Gray (running back), Fuller and Swope (wide receiver).
