KANE'OHE, Hawai'i - The No. 13 Texas A&M women's golf team earned its first victory of the season on Wednesday, claiming the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational title at the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course.
The Aggies shot their best round of the tournament on the final day and finished with 901 (303-300-298), four strokes ahead of second-place UC Davis. A&M has now won the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in each year it has competed (2007, 2009 and 2012).
"I'm so proud of the way the girls never looked back today," A&M head coach Trelle McCombs said. "They had a determined look on their faces from the start. I like the fact that when they needed to dig deep, they did just that. I'm looking forward to seeing what next week in San Diego will bring."
Third-place Gonzaga finished nine shots back of the Aggies with 910. Coastal Carolina (915) was fourth and Texas State (924) placed fifth, followed by Idaho (933), Washington State and North Texas (934), Iowa (938), Hawai'i (940), UTEP (945), Montana State (967), Northern Colorado (973) and UH-Hilo (979).

Junior Mary Michael Maggio jumped into the top 10 and had her best finish as an Aggie, tied for sixth. She closed with a final-round 73 and an overall score of a 10-over 226 (77-76-73).
