
Aggies Finish Second at Art Adamson Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas—The Texas A&M men's swimming and diving team finished in second place with 777.5 total points on the third day of the Art Adamson Invitational.
 
Texas A&M placed four swimmers in the championship final 100 free. Aggie swimmers occupied fifth-eighth place in the order of: junior Türker Ayar (44.73), senior Antoine Marc (44.75), sophomore Justin Morey (45.01) and freshman Steven Richardson (45.62).
 
Sophomore Mauro Castillo won the 200 breast in 1:55.11, an NCAA 'B' cut and new school record. Sophomore Jonathan Tybur finished the race in sixth place with a time of 2:00.05.
 
Freshman Angel Martinez finished the 200 fly in 1:47.84 for fifth place and an NCAA "B' cut. Finishing in eighth was freshman Mateo Gonzalez with a time of 1:50.14.
 
Diver Sam Thornton, a freshman, finished in third place in the platform diving championship with a 317.35.
 
The 400 free relay team consisting of Ayar, Marc, Morey, and junior Jacob Gonzales finished the race in 2:59.15 for fourth place.
 
The Texas A&M men's swimming and diving team will pick back up on Jan. 7 to host Missouri State at the Student Recreation Natatorium.
