Horned Frogs Trip Up Aggies in Regular Season Finale

COLLEGE STATION – The No. 10 TCU Horned Frogs defeated the No. 7 Texas A&M men's tennis team 4-0 Saturday afternoon at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth. The Aggies fell to 17-4 this spring while the Frogs improved to 19-6 on the season.
Saturday's win was the second this spring for the Cowtown crew over the Aggies defeating the maroon and white 4-2 on January 24 to open the spring dual season. The Steve Denton coached squad opened the match dropping the doubles point for just the fourth time this spring. Hudson Blake and Guillermo Nunez defeated Arthur Rinderknech and AJ Catanzariti 6-1 on doubles court three to open the match. The point was clinched by No. 29 Trevor Johnson and Cameron Norrie 6-3 over No. 41 Jeremy Efferding and Jordan Szabo on court two.
The two teams split first sets on the six singles courts, but the Aggies were unable to get on the board and force the completion of all the matches. The Frogs gained a 2-0 lead as No. 50 Norrie defeated Rinderknech 6-0, 6-4 on court three.
The final two points on the day were captured in quick succession as Facundo Lugones defeated No. 78 Catanzariti 6-4, 6-2 on court five followed by No. 62 Nunez clinching the win over No. 64 Shane Vinsant 6-3, 6-2 on court two.
The Aggies will return to College Station to host the SEC Tournament beginning Wednesday at noon. The Aggies first opponent and full bracket and will be available on 12thMan.com after SEC play concludes this weekend.
