Women's Golf Finishes Fifth At Annika Intercollegiate

The No. 11 Texas A&M women's golf team came away with a fifth place finish against one of the toughest fields in the nation at the prestigious Annika Intercollegiate, finishing the tournament with a 859 (-5) score. Callie Scheffler led the Aggies with a 213 for the tournament, finishing in a tie for 13th.
The Aggies shot a 295 (+7) on Tuesday on the Watson Course at the Reunion Resort, good to finish Top 5 in a tournament that included the six top teams, and 10 of the top 16 teams in Golfweek's preseason ranking. The Aggies finished ahead of Defending National Champions No. 2 Stanford, No. 5 UCLA, No. 10 South Carolina, No. 16 Tennessee, No. 30 Washington and UCF in the event.
Southern Cal won the event with a score of 828 (-36). The Trojans' Karen Chung won medalist honors with a 204 (-12).
Scheffler posted her career-best tournament score with a 54-hole career-best 213 (-3), tying for 13th in a field that featured many of the nation's top players. Teammate Maddie Szeryk was just a stroke behind her, finishing the tournament with an even-par 72 to bring her tournament total to 214 (-2), and a tie for 16th.
Bianca Fabrizio shot a 215 (-1) for the tournament, finishing in a tie for 19th after a final-round 74 (+2) on the par 72 / 6,245 yard course. Andrea Jonama finished in a tie for 43rd with a 222 (+6) and Thanya Pattamakijsakul finished with a 223 (+7) in a tie for 45th.
Texas A&M takes to the course again on from October 4-6 for the Jim West Challenge at Tapatio Springs in Boerne, Texas. The Aggies are the event's defending champions.
