
Aggies to Host Double Header on Super Sunday

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M's 3rd-ranked men's tennis team is set to host No. 13 South Florida at noon followed by the St. Edward's Hilltoppers at 4:30 p.m. at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.
Setting the Scene
The Aggies (7-0) look stay hot as they put their seven-match winning streak on the line against the Bulls (3-0) and the Hilltoppers (0-1).
Players in the ITA Rankings
Texas A&M enters the match with a pair of ranked singles players, led by No. 5 Arthur Rinderknech. Rinderknech earned the highest initial spring ranking for an Aggie on record, additionally he is the highest-ranked player in the SEC. The Frenchman stands at 16-3 this year, including five wins over ranked opponents.
Senior Shane Vinsant brings a No. 29 ranking into the midweek matchup. The Keller native is currently 10-5 on the season, including an impressive 3-1 dual record. Vinsant has earned All-SEC recognition each of the last two seasons, along with the 2014 SEC Tournament MVP honors. A season ago Vinsant was named an All-American alongside classmate Harrison Adams after earning a final No. 10 ranking in the doubles poll.
In addition to the two ranked singles players, the Aggies enlist a pair of ranked doubles teams in the initial spring rankings. No. 12 Rinderknech and Vinsant and the 29th ranked pair of Jordi Arconada and Max Lunkin. Arconada and Lunkin are 7-1 this season, with a 4-0 dual record and one win over a ranked doubles team under their belt.
South Florida comes to College Station enlisting the serviced of the nation's No. 17 player, Roberto Cid. The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native began his 2016 competition in dominating fashion. Cid did not drop a singles set during ITA Kickoff Weekend against No. 28 FSU and No. 35 LSU.
Last Time Out
The No. 3 Texas A&M men's tennis team defeated No. 28 Florida State, 4-3, and UTRGV, 5-2, at the Mitchell Tennis Center Friday.
The Aggies claimed the doubles point in both matches, seeing victories from Rinderknech/Withrow, Arconada/Lunkin, Catanzariti/Giammalva and Martell/Gordon. The Steve Denton coached squad picked up singles victories from seven different players on the day.
Junior James Martell, freshman Oscar Janglin, junior Frankie Colunga and freshman Henry Gordon were victorious against the Vaqueros in the afternoon match-up. Against the Seminoles under the lights, junior Max Lunkin and sophomore AJ Catanzariti worked quickly to put A&M ahead 3-0.
With the team result hanging in the balance at 3-3, attention shifted to the highly-competitive match on court one. No. 5 Arthur Rinderknech bounced back from his first loss this spring on Wednesday at Baylor to defeat No. 15 Lock 7-5, 7-5. The Paris native broke Lock's serve while leading 6-5 in each set to claim his team-leading 16th win this season.

The Aggies will compete in the 2016 ITA Division I National Men's Team Indoor Championship, taking place in Charlottesville, Va. from February 12-15. Following the ITA Indoors the maroon and white remain on the road, as they travel to face No. 8 Ohio State and No. 12 Illinois. The Aggies will return to the Mitchell Tennis Center to open SEC play against No. 56 Auburn on March 4.
