No. 10 Texas A&M downed by No. 17 Tennessee, 11-8

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 10 Texas A&M softball team fell to No. 17 Tennessee, 11-8, Sunday at the Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.
A&M (31-9, 5-7 SEC) struck first for the 29th time this season, scoring two runs in the first. Freshman Keeli Milligan led off the game with a walk, before stealing her 45th stolen base of the season. Freshman Kaityln Alderink singled through the left side and advanced to second with her 10th stolen base. Sophomore Ashley Walters extended her hitting streak to eight with an RBI single to right, scoring Milligan. Sophomore Tori Vidales drove in Alderink with a single to left.
Tennessee (31-10, 10-5 SEC) cut the lead in half on an infield single from Meghan Gregg in the bottom half of the frame. The Volunteers then took a 3-2 advantage in the second on an RBI double from Aubrey Leach and an RBI single from Brooke Vines.
UT added to the lead in the fourth as Meghan Gregg doubled to left, scoring Leach and Vines. In the fifth, the Volunteers scored four runs on four hits to lead 9-2.
Vidales recorded her 39th RBI of the season in the sixth, singling home Alderink, who led off the inning with an infield single and advanced to third on a Walters double. Sophomore Kristen Cuyos roped a two-RBI double down the left field line to cut the lead to 9-5. Sophomore Kayla Ober doubled to right center, plating Cuyos.
The Volunteers countered with two runs in the sixth on a defensive miscue and a Shaliyah Geathers sacrifice fly.
Milligan led off the seventh with an infield single and stole second, before moving to third on a wild pitch. Walters drove in Milligan with a sacrifice fly to right. Vidales belted a solo shot to left for her ninth dinger of the season.
Aggie starter Samantha Show (18-6) suffered the loss, throwing 4.0 innings, allowing five runs on eight hits, two walks and one strikeout. Erin Gabriel earned the win to move to 14-4 on the season.
Texas A&M returns to action Friday-Sunday as the Aggies host No. 4 Alabama at the Aggie Softball Complex.
