Courtney Walker, Jordan Jones Selected In WNBA Draft

UNCASVILLE, Conn.- Former Texas A&M standouts Courtney Walker and Jordan Jones were selected in the 2016 WNBA Draft on Thursday. Walker was selected as the No. 16 pick by the Atlanta Dream, and Jones was the No. 34 pick by the Chicago Sky.
Walker, a three-time All-American, led the SEC in scoring with 18.4 points per game in 2015-16, and was a second-round selection of the Dream. She is the fourth Aggie selected exactly No. 16 in the WNBA Draft, joining Danielle Gant (2009), Sydney Colson (2011) and Tyra White (2012). The No. 16 draft position is the second-highest an Aggie has gone in the WNBA Draft, only behind Kelsey Bone, who was the No. 5 pick in 2013.
Jones, who was an All-American in 2014-15, led the SEC in assists for the third consecutive year in 2015-16, becoming the first player since 1990 to do so. She was taken in the third round by Chicago, which gave A&M two draftees in the same year for the fourth time. Two Aggies were selected in the 2008 (Morenike Atunrase & A'Quonesia Franklin), 2011 (Colson & Danielle Adams) and 2012 (White & Sydney Carter) drafts prior to tonight.
Walker and Jones are the 12th and 13th WNBA Draft selections from Texas A&M, 11 of which have come since 2008. Walker and Jones look to make the opening day rosters, and join Adams, Bone, Carter and Colson as Aggies currently in the WNBA.
Walker and Jones helped the Aggies to a 22-10 record, good for A&M's 11th straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, in their senior season of 2015-16.
