Apr 23, 2026 | Women's Basketball
COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M women's basketball announced the signing of Tennessee transfer Kaniya Boyd Thursday.
"We are thrilled to add Kaniya to our program," Head Coach Joni Taylor said. "She is an elite defender with the ability to create shots for others as well as for herself. Her experience in the SEC and the NCAA Tournament will elevate our backcourt in a multitude of ways. 12th Man, you're going to love Kaniya's infectious personality."
The rising redshirt junior played her first two seasons with the Tennessee Lady Vols where she competed in 59 games and made eight starts. The 5-9 guard is the second transfer to sign with the Aggies this offseason, joining Miyah Verse.
During her freshman campaign, the Las Vegas native earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors at the end of the non-conference schedule when she logged a career-high 15 points while going 5-of-5 from the field versus Winthrop.
Boyd averaged 2.9 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.9 steals per game during her career at Rocky Top in 14.4 minutes each outing.
Boyd came into college ranked as the No. 29 player in her class by ProspectsNation.com and No. 35 overall on the espnW 100. The consensus four-star recruit was the Nevada MaxPreps Player of the Year in 2023.
