Apr 22, 2016 | Softball
COLLEGE STATION – The No. 16 Texas A&M softball team will travel to No. 19 Missouri for a three-game series, beginning Saturday at University Field in Columbia, Mo. The Aggies (33-11, 6-9 SEC) are coming off an 18-1 victory in five innings over Sam Houston State on Wednesday.
"It is good to get some momentum going into this weekend," head coach Jo Evans said. "Missouri is a great ball club, especially at home. Our pitchers have had some really good outings our last two games, so I feel good about that. It is what we needed to get comfortable and go to Missouri and face a really good hitting ball club."
At the top of the lineup, freshman Keeli Milligan is hitting .386 with her nation-leading 48 steals, which is tied for the most in school history. Sophomore Tori Vidales leads the team in home runs with 12 while driving in 45 runs. Sophomore Ashley Walters leads the SEC with 23 RBI in conference games and is second with a .478 batting average. Senior Cali Lanphear leads the Aggies with 50 RBI.
In the circle, freshman Samantha Show is 20-7 with a 3.43 ERA and 133 strikeouts. Show's 20 wins are the second most in the SEC. Sophomore Trinity Harrington is 6-3 with a 3.68 ERA and senior Katie Marks is 7-0 with a 3.66 ERA.
Missouri is currently 31-12 (6-9 SEC) on the season and is led by Taylor Gadbois, who is hitting a team-high .439. Emily Crane paces the Missouri offense with 15 home runs and 51 RBI while hitting .407. Danielle Baumgartner is 13-3 on the season with a 2.02 ERA and 38 strikeouts, and Paige Lowary is 16-6 with a 3.80 ERA and 96 strikeouts.
Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. on ESPNU, while Sunday and Monday's games are slated for a 6 p.m. start on the SEC Network. All games can be heard locally on KWBC 1550 AM or online at www.RadioAggieland.com.
