Trio of Aggies Set to Compete at NCAAs

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – A pair of singles players and a doubles team will represent Texas A&M at the 2016 NCAA Men's Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships beginning Wednesday afternoon in Tulsa, Okla. Sophomore Arthur Rinderknech was named to both the singles and doubles field, playing alongside senior Jackson Withrow, while senior Shane Vinsant will represent the Aggies in the singles bracket.
The singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 25-30 at the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla., the individual portion take place following the team championship, which ran from May 20-24. The University of Tulsa will serve as host for the 2016 NCAA Tennis Championships.
Rinderknech will make his first appearance in the NCAA singles and doubles field after earning All-SEC honors for the second straight season. The right-hander paced the Aggies with a 26-12 singles record, including an impressive 14 wins against ranked opponents. Currently ranked as the nation's No. 18 singles player, Rinderknech was named to the SEC All-Tournament team for the second consecutive season, helping the Aggies advance to the semifinals for the fourth straight season. The Paris native is set to take on No. 13 Skander Mansouri of Wake Forest at 12:30 p.m.
Rinderknech partnered with Withrow to earn a No. 8 ranking in the latest ITA doubles poll after compiling a 30-8 mark, going 12-5 alongside Withrow. Including the upcoming 2016 tournament, Withrow has represented the Aggies in a trio of NCAA doubles championships, including a pair as a national seed alongside former partner Junior Ore. The Maroon and White clad duo will take on No. 4 Luca Corintelli and Ryan Shane of Virginia on Thursday, start times have not been determined for doubles matches.
Vinsant will be making his second appearance in the NCAA singles field after earning a 22-16 record in his final season in Aggieland. The Keller, Texas, native was ranked in every singles and doubles poll this spring, reaching as high as No. 29 in singles and No. 12 in doubles. The right-hander advanced to the Round of 16 to earn All-America honors as a sophomore, followed by All-American distinction in doubles as a junior. Vinsant is set to take on No. 7 Christopher Eubanks of Georgia Tech at 12:30 p.m.
The senior garnered All-SEC recognition all four years in the Maroon & White, Vinsant was named to the first team in each of his final three seasons after tallying SEC All-Freshman and second team accolades as a rookie. Currently ranked No. 52 in singles and No. 55 in doubles, the senior is nearing 100 wins in both singles (98-47) and doubles (98-52) during his career at Texas A&M.
