
No. 17 Texas A&M Welcomes SFA, Missouri State and New Mexico for Texas A&M Invitational

COLLEGE STATION – The No. 17 Texas A&M softball teams hosts Stephen F. Austin, Missouri State and New Mexico in the Texas A&M Invitational beginning Friday at the Aggie Softball Complex.
The Aggies (5-0) are coming off a 2-0 win at home against Sam Houston State Wednesday night and are led offensively by junior Tori Vidales, who is first on the team in batting average (.385), RBI (5), runs (5) and slugging percentage (.846).
The Maroon and White are bolstered by a 1.48 team ERA, led by sophomore Samantha Show (2-0, 0.00 ERA) and junior Trinity Harrington (2-0, 0.54), who tossed a one-hit complete-game shutout against the Bearkats.
SFA enters the weekend with a 0-5 record after the Bulldog Classic and are paced offensively by Lauren Becker, who is batting .455 with a double, three walks and a run scored. In the circle, Makayla Sikes is 0-2 with a 2.13 ERA in 12.2 innings and 10 strikeouts.
Friday and Sunday's games will be the 61st and 62nd installment of the series, as Texas A&M holds a 55-5 advantage over the Ladyjacks.
Missouri State is coming off a 2-3 weekend at the Louisiana Tech Invitational. Reigning NFCA National Player of the Week, Mary Stephens, powers the offense hitting .692 with three home runs, two doubles and 11 RBI.
The Aggies hold a 10-1 lead in the series history, and won the last meeting, 2-1, on Feb. 15, 2015.
New Mexico went 4-1 in the opening weekend at the Kajikawa Classic, defeating Seattle, St. Mary's, Western Michigan and UC Riverside. Jasmine Casados wrapped up the tournament with a .533 average with two doubles and two RBI. Tess McPhereson went 3-0, threw two complete-game shutouts and struck out eight.
Saturday's contest will be the 24th in series history as the Aggies lead, 17-6. The two teams met last season at the Mary Nutter Classic in which Texas A&M used a feverish rally in the seventh, scoring five runs to win 8-7.
