Nov 02, 2018 | Equestrian
AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 2 Texas A&M equestrian team fell at No. 1 Auburn, 14-5, Friday at the Auburn University Equestrian Center.
With the loss, the Aggies fall to 4-1 (1-1 SEC) on the year.
"We made some very large mistakes that opened the door for them," head coach Tana McKay said. "We can't do that against a team like Auburn in Auburn's house. I am proud of the reiners. They closed out it out with a win, and they rode really well."
The Maroon & White won the final event of the day, Reining, 3-2. Darby Gardner began the event with a 73-72 victory over Deanna Green as Courtney Yohey topped Terri June Granger, 73-71. Marissa Harrell closed out the meet with a 74.5-73.5 triumph against Betsy Brown and earned her second-consecutive Most Outstanding Player honor.
In Equitation over Fences, Rhian Murphy secured the lone point for the Aggies in the event, defeating Becky Kozma, 84-72. In Horsemanship, Sarah Orsak topped Deanna Green, 73.5-71, before Alex Albright and Kelsey Jung tied at 74.5.
Texas A&M returns to action Friday, Nov. 16 for its final meet of the fall as the Aggies take on Georgia at 11 a.m. at the Hildebrand Equine Complex.
