Tori Vidales Named Senior CLASS Award Candidate

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Texas A&M softball's Tori Vidales was named one of 30 NCAA softball student-athletes to be named a Senior CLASS award candidate, which is given to student-athletes that excel both on and off the field, it was announced Thursday.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Vidales has etched her name in the Texas A&M record books as she ranks in the top five in nearly every offensive category. The La Porte, Texas, native holds the school record for career RBI and ranks second in home runs, third in walks, slugging percentage and runs scored and fourth in total bases.
In the classroom, Vidales has earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar-Athlete honors, which is given to student-athletes with have a GPA of 3.5 for the academic year. Vidales has made an impact in the community with her roles in Aggies Move and the Aggie CAN Food Drive.
The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists later in the season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.
The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2018 Women's College World Series.
