AGGIE NOTES
WHAT THEY SAID
TEXAS A&M HEAD COACH JO EVANS
On Trinity Harrington's strikeout in the top of the 1st…
"That was the total difference in the game, to me anyway. When you're in that situation, we need a strikeout right there. If we can get a strikeout, we're going get out of this thing, and she did just that. I was really proud of Trin. A great pitcher will have some chaos like that happen, not of her doing, and then just bear down and say, I can do this. I'll pitch this off my back right now, I can get some outs and get us out of that. That showed a lot of maturity on her part."
On Sarah Hudek…
"That makes a huge difference. They [Kentucky] are kicking themselves for not getting a run out of that first inning, and then we turn around and score a run. That's kind of a back breaker. I love the way Sarah is swinging the bat, and that last at bat she had was such a quality AB. She wasn't quite comfortable during the at bat and stays in there long enough to just scorch one. I like what that kid is doing. I like that she's aggressive up there, and that's a kid that doesn't have to be completely comfortable to hit the ball hard. She can battle up there and make something happen."
On Ashley Walters and Tori Vidales…
"It's nice to see Ashley play and get up there and drive the ball, get us some runs, and she got up there and hit one off the wall. And Tori was 3-for-3 in her first three at bats, and I love seeing those kids with opportunities and people in scoring position step up there and make something happen. We really needed that. We needed Tori and Ashley to get up there and get some quality ABs. Samantha Show got a couple RBI at her at bats too, so it's nice to see our kids start to put some things together."
On tonight's performance…
"I'll tell you what we did really well was take our free passes. They gave up nine walks on the day, and it's going to be hard to beat anybody if you give up nine walks. I thought we showed a lot of patience at the plate, and we were aggressive when we got a pitch to hit. Kaitlyn Alderink got three walks on the night, and she ends up 0-for-1 when she had a lot of ABs, but did a nice job. I'm pleased to see Erica Russell and Keeli Milligan get good ABs too. Keeli fought for her hits and did a nice job to battle with two strikes. I saw a lot of positive things out of our offense."
