COLLEGE STATION, Texas – One of the premier events of the collegiate golf season returns to Aggieland this weekend when Texas A&M hosts a loaded field for the 2018 Aggie Invitational at Traditions Golf Course.

Admission is free for fans as the tournament begins with 36 holes on Saturday before concluding with a final round of 18 holes on Sunday morning. Each round is slated to begin at 7:30 a.m.

THE AGGIE INVITATIONAL FIELD

The 2018 Aggie Invitational's loaded field consists of 14 teams, six of which are ranked in the top 11 according to the most recent Golfweek/Sagarin rankings (4/5) (No. 1 Oklahoma State, No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 7 Texas Tech, No. 9 Baylor, No. 8 Alabama and No. 11 LSU) … In addition to the top-ranked teams, the individual field includes 16 players who are ranked among the top 50 golfers in the country (Golfweek/Sagarin).

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

54 holes, stroke play ... Each team will play five golfers and count four scores ... A team champion and medalist will be crowned following competition.

TEXAS A&M PREVIEW/LINEUP

On the season, Texas A&M has won a program-record five events and has placed in the top three of the team standings during eight of nine tournaments. Last time out, the Aggies notched a third-place showing at the Valspar Collegiate with sophomore Dan Erickson carding a share of third to record his third consecutive top-three finish.

"It's been a fun season," Head Coach J.T. Higgins said of Texas A&M's success. "Five wins, a school record, and the guys have played great and shown up every week. Pretty much every tournament we've been in the final group on the final day with a chance to win. Those are the things we aim for right from the start and we've been able to accomplish them."

Along with Erickson, the Texas A&M five-man lineup at this weekend's Aggie Invitational includes All-American Chandler Phillips, who sits one trophy away from breaking the school record for career tournament titles, senior Andrew Paysse and sophomores Josh Gliege and Brandon Smith. Additionally, Texas A&M will see four golfers compete in the field as individuals – Kavan Eunak, Walker Lee, Max Miller and Reese Ramsey.

SPECTATOR GUIDELINES

Admission is free for spectators on both days with bleachers located on the course in good view of numerous holes … Traditions Clubhouse will be open to the public during the tournament (credit card purchases only please) … Spectators are asked to turn cell phones off and remain on the cart paths or in the rough, while staying at least 15 yards away from the golfers.

GREAT GIVEAWAYS FOR FANS

TOURNAMENT HISTORY

Now in its 12^th year, the Aggie Invitational has become one of the highlights of the college golf calendar each year, ranking among the highest-attended events in the country … Texas A&M shares the most team titles with Oklahoma State at three after the Aggies' earned wins in 2010, 2011 and 2014 and the Cowboys won in 2005, 2009 and 2016 … Jordan Russell is the lone Texas A&M golfer to bring home an individual title for the home-standing Aggies, winning medalist honors in 2010 ... Last year, LSU captured the title, shooting 11-under par in a rain-shortened event (36 holes) … Individually, Michigan's Kyle Mueller captured 2017 Aggie Invitational medalist honors, shooting six-under par … Mueller returns this year's field to defend his title.
