
Texas A&M Suffers 7-5 Loss to No. 17 Oregon

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – Texas A&M fell to No. 17 Oregon, 7-5, Saturday to close out the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. The Maroon and White finished the tournament with a 1-2 record to move to 9-5 on the season.
Oregon jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first, but the Aggies responded in the second with four runs, highlighted by a pinch-hit three-run homer from Abby Smith. Kelly Martinez blasted her second home run of the season in the fourth inning to give the Aggies a three-run lead.
In the sixth, the Ducks tied the game at five before taking a two-run lead in the seventh.
Payton McBride earned the start in the circle for the Aggies, allowing five runs, seven hits and two walks, while fanning four. Kendall Potts suffered the loss, throwing 1.1 innings in relief, giving up two runs, one hit, one walk and recording two strikeouts.
