COLUMBIA, SC – The No. 7 Texas A&M men's tennis team faces its eighth top-25 team of the season as take on No. 18 South Carolina (13-5, 3-4) Friday evening at the Carolina Tennis Center. The Aggies (16-3, 6-0 SEC) and Razorbacks face off for the 14th time as first serve is set for 3 p.m. (CT).
"The match against South Carolina will require a big effort by our team and I know our guys are excited for the challenge," Texas A&M head coach Steve Denton said. "Both teams have a lot of new faces this season, so we will see which team plays the big points the best. South Carolina has been extremely successful at home this season and I know we are in store for an old fashioned SEC brawl."
The Maroon & White return to action after winning their last 13 matches, including a perfect 6-0 start to the SEC season. The Aggies won their 20 straight regular season SEC match as they defeated No. 25 Arkansas, 6-1, in College Station last Friday.
In the current 13-match win streak the Aggies have gone 5-0 against Top-25 teams. During the streak A&M sophomore Barnaby Smith has gone 10-1 while Hady Habib has posted a 9-2 mark. Valentin Vacherot and Noah Schachter have each tallied eight victories. Sophomore Carlos Aguilar and Habib have led the team with a trio of ranked wins.
Following the matchup against the Gamecocks the Aggies face off against No. 2 Florida in Gainesville on Sunday.
