COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Texas A&M men's basketball team hits the road to square off against South Carolina on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Colonial Life Arena.
Last time out, the Aggies (6-2, 1-1 SEC) secured their first conference victory of the season with a 68-66 win over Auburn. Sophomore Emanuel Miller led the way offensively with 16 points as sophomore Andre Gordon added 10, including the game-winner with 1.6 seconds remaining. Senior Jay Jay Chandler registered 10 points, his third game in the last four with 10-or-more points.
Miller tops the team in scoring and rebounding for the season at 17.1 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, both of which rank in the top five in the SEC. Senior Quenton Jackson is averaging 12.0 points per contest, and senior Savion Flagg is averaging 8.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Gordon's 9.6 points per game ranks third on the squad, and leads the team with 24 assists.
South Carolina, whose schedule has been plagued by cancellations and postponements, competed for the first time since Dec. 5 on Saturday and came away with a 78-71 victory over Florida A&M. AJ Lawson and Jermaine Cousinard power the Gamecock (2-2, 0-0 SEC) offense at 14.8 points and 13.8 points per game, respectively. Justin Minaya is third on the team at 9.0 points per contest and leads the team with 7.0 rebounds per game.
Wednesday's game marks the 12th meeting between the two schools with South Carolina holding a 7-4 advantage. The Gamecocks have won the last four meetings, and the Aggies are looking for their first win in Columbia since Feb. 21, 2015.
The game may be seen on ESPNU with Beth Mowins and Dalen Cuff on the call. Authenticated subscribers can access the game through the ESPN app on their computers, mobile phones, tablets, smart TVs, and other connected devices.
