Quotes
Texas A&M Head Coach Buzz Williams
On tonight's performance…
"I thought we played with great energy. I thought we played with great togetherness. We really struggled on the defensive glass. Saturday at the scrimmage we did not contest shots at the rate we needed to, dramatically better tonight. I thought we played selfless and for one another. Overall, playing for the first time in front of fans, there were a lot of good things."
On adjustments from last season…
"I think our adjustments and running our defense for a second year you could see tonight. I think some of the things we are doing in early offense fit our personnel, which allows us to play at a better pace. I think the depth of our team should be a positive and in time the versatility in how we can mix, and match could be really good for us."
Texas A&M – Kingsville Head Coach Johnny Estelle
On Texas A&M being elite…
"I play the game for our guys to see what an elite team looks like, and this is a tournament team. I know it is the first game, but they (Texas A&M) are very good. They make it very difficult to run an offense, they play together and they play hard. This is a tournament team, and I am not surprised what Buzz (Williams) and his staff have accumulated here."
Wade Taylor IV
On Starting a New Season…
"It's a blessing to be back playing at Reed Arena. We're excited to play together, you can see our energy on the court from start to finish. We know how hard we've been working, so to be able to finally suit up as a team is amazing."
On The Team's Depth…
"We started off well, but when the second group came in, we got an even bigger boost. It just goes to show the trust we have in one another. When someone had to sub out, we knew the guys coming in would do just as well. It's amazing how we can play so many different line-ups and keep the same chemistry with each other."
Solomon Washington
On Playing His First Game as an Aggie…
"Coach Buzz has helped me improve day-by-day and step-by-step to help this team win. Playing in front of the fans in Reed Arena was an amazing feeling. I'm speechless."
