Feb 12, 2022 | Softball
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M softball team (4-0) remained undefeated with a pair of wins on the second day of the Aggie Classic at Davis Diamond. The Aggies slid past Western Kentucky (2-1), 2-0, before grabbing the nightcap, 11-3, in five innings from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (1-3).
Senior standout Haley Lee reached base safely in both games to make it on base in 20-straight games for the Aggies dating back to last season. Rookie Emiley Kennedy secured her first career win in the circle against the Islanders, fanning seven in the process.

On key hits from Haley Lee…
"I love the kid. I love the way she's playing. I love the way she's leading. She is all about our team. She was getting a little anxious, but then in her last at-bat, she took a deep breath and got herself settled in."
On Herzog's performance in the circle…
"She was so good for us. I told her that that's the most poised and consistent I've seen her in back-to-back games. In that first game, she literally put the team on her back. We couldn't do anything offensively, but she went out there and just took care of business."
On the defensive plays of Rylen Wiggins…
"Rylen is doing a phenomenal job at second base, and she's always played shortstop her whole life. The read she's getting off the bat while only having played there since the fall is impressive. The way she's playing the game has me excited about what she's going to do for us."
On freshman Emiley Kennedy's first career start in the circle…
"I thought Emiley came out so strong yesterday in relief. She pounded the strike zone and got quick outs. Today, she threw a lot of pitches in five innings. She struggled a little bit with the strike zone, but I'm proud of her for digging in and battling back. We didn't play great defense behind her, but I was proud of her in those last few innings for settling in and taking care of business."
