SEC TOURNAMENT PREVIEW: Semifinal Game

HOOVER, Alabama – The No. 9 Texas A&M Aggies continue play at the SEC Tournament on Saturday with a semifinal game against either the Alabama Crimson Tide or Florida Gators. At approximately 4:30 p.m., the Aggies will play the winner of Saturday morning's Alabama-Florida Game slated for 9:30 a.m. at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
ABOUT THE AGGIES
The Aggies play in their fourth SEC Tournament semifinal game, looking for their second championship game appearance. The Maroon & White played in the 2015, '16 and '18 semifinal round. They advanced to the 2016 championship game with a 12-8 victory over Ole Miss. Texas A&M lost to Vanderbilt, 12-3, in 2015 and the Aggies were edged out by Ole Miss, 2-1, in 2018.
The Aggies are looking for their second SEC Tournament crown to put in the case with their 2016 trophy. Texas A&M owns six conference tournament crowns, including Big 12 titles in 2007, '10 and '11 and Southwest Conference crowns in 1986 and '88.
Texas A&M owns a 14-9 record all-time at the SEC Tournament. The Aggies' .609 winning percentage at the tournament trails only LSU (.659 – 89-46).
Ol' Sarge's charges are hitting .371 (23-of-62) with six doubles, six home runs and 22 runs in two games at the 2022 SEC Tournament. Jack Moss (4-of-8) and Kole Kaler (3-of-6) are both hitting .500. Trevor Werner is batting .444 (4-of-9) with four runs, one double, two home runs and five RBI.
The Aggies have smashed 73 home runs during the 2022 campaign. It marks Texas A&M's highest dinger tally since hitting 85 during the 2009 season. The Aggies only hit the 70-tater mark once since 2009, totaling 70 homers in 2015.
Texas A&M is 14-4 since Werner returned to the starting lineup, including 13-4 against SEC competition. On the season, the Maroon & White are 18-5 with Werner in the starting lineup and 19-12 in games he did not start.
Since April 5, the Aggies are 21-6, including 15-6 in SEC action. Prior to that date, the Maroon & White were 16-11 with a 4-5 league ledger. Austin Bost has keyed the run, batting .432, while Dylan Rock owns a .508 on-base percentage with 10 home runs and 32 RBI. Ryan Targac has a .344 batting average, nine home runs and 35 RBI in the span.
