
Get to Know: Kennedy Powell

Sophomore Kennedy Powell joined the Aggies this summer after spending her freshman campaign at UCLA. The Conroe, Texas, native, earned Pac-12 All-Freshman honors and NFCA West All-Region First Team recognition, while starting 45 of the 59 games she appeared in. Powell batted .374, which ranked No. 10 overall in the Pac-12 and No. 17 in the nation among freshman.
Get to know one of the newest Aggies below.

At what Point in your Recruitment Process did you decide to transfer to A&M and what has it been like since transferring from UCLA?
“I decided to transfer to A&M after seeing the school culture and meeting with the coaches. It has been a great transition. Academically it has been great and athletically it has been awesome with all the facilities and all the things we have in place for the student-athletes here.”
How does it feel to play in Texas again?
“It is awesome, my parents are here at every game. I am really close to home, so my family is here often, and I get to go home whenever I’d like.”
What has it been like playing in front of the 12th Man?
“Playing in front of the 12th Man has been great! I am really enjoying connecting with the people around College Station and the people who have been around this softball program and University for years. It is fascinating to see them bleed Maroon and White.”
As a team and individually, what are your goals going into the 2024 season?
“The goal for a team is to always go to the World Series and win a National Championship, as well as the SEC title. Individually, my goal is to be an All-American.”

What are your hobbies besides softball?
“I enjoy basketball, going swimming and hanging out with my friends.”
What is better In-n-Out or Whataburger?
“Whataburger is better overall, but when I was in California I really enjoyed In-n-Out burger. Whataburger is better because they have breakfast, they have really good burgers and tier 1 french fries.”
What is the best cereal and why?
“Frosted flakes, or Froot Loops with marshmallows but the Lucky Charms marshmallows not regular marshmallows.”
What song stays stuck in your head 24/7?
“Definitely has to be “Turks & Caicos” by Rod Wave”. It's on his new album and he is my favorite rapper.”

Any pre-game rituals that you are superstitious about?
“I am very superstitious, so I put everything on my right side first before I do my left. Once I put my whole uniform on, it stays on, and I am not taking it off for any reason.”
What is your fondest moment in your athletic career?
“Being able to play at this level of softball against the best competition and being that 1% of people that get to play collegiately.”
What is your favorite series that you are watching right now?
“The rookie, a cop show. It’s so good that I am rewatching it. I can’t forget Hannah Montana, which I watch over and over again or SpongeBob.”
