Aggie Divers Head to Austin for Texas Diving Invitational

AUSTIN – The Texas A&M diving team is set for action at the Texas Diving Invitational running Nov. 15-17 at the Jamail Texas Swim Center. The Aggies currently have four men and four women qualified for NCAA Zone D Championships.
Florida transfer Leonardo Garcia has produced an outstanding first half of the season with NCAA Zones qualifications on both springboards. The Cali, Colombia native earned SEC Diver of the Week honors for his performance against Missouri where he swept the springboards and notched a personal-best score of 371.10 on the 1-meter. Rhett Hensley neared personal-best scores in the tri meet with BYU and TCU with a 378.75 on the 1-meter and a 378.60 on the platform.
On the women's side, Mayson Richards and Else Praasterink have been a force on the springboards all season. Richards has won the 1-meter twice this season and posts season-best scores of 299.80 on the 1-meter and 317.85 on the 3-meter. Praasterink neared a career-best score against Houston on the 3-meter with a 328.20 and qualified for Zones on the platform in the BYU-TCU meet with a 245.05. Freshman Julie Moons clinched a spot to Zones with a score of 281.18 on the 1-meter, while sophomore Chloe McKnight earned a spot with a score of 243.90 on the platform.
Jaxon Bowshire holds Zone qualification on the 1-meter after scoring 336.45 against BYU and TCU, and Matthew Aigner punched his ticket on the 3-meter, scoring 328.20 against Missouri.
