No. 11 A&M Hosts Rice for Sunday Matchup

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 11 Texas A&M women's tennis team hosts the Rice Owls, Sunday at the Mitchell Tennis Center, with first serve set for 12 p.m.
Last time out, the Aggies faced some of the nation's best at the ITA National Indoor Championships. A&M dropped its opening round match but secured a win over conference opponent Auburn in the consolation round.
No. 32 Nicole Khirin picked up A&M's first SEC weekly honor of the year, earning SEC co-Player of the Week after going undefeated in singles play by downing No. 29 Tanya Sasnouskaya, No. 61 Ariana Arseneault and No. 48 Alexandra Vecic. She also, picked up a doubles win over Auburn's DJ Bennett/Adeline Flach.
This will be the eighth all-time meeting between the Aggies and Owls, with A&M boasting a 5-2 advantage in the series and claiming each of the last four meetings. The Maroon & White also hold a 2-1 record at home against Rice.
Accompanying Khirin in the national rankings are No. 1 Mary Stoiana and No. 24 Mia Kupres, while Stoiana/Kupres are ranked No. 3 in the doubles.
"It has been quite some time since we have played at home in front of the 12th Man" head coach Mark Weaver said. "Our team is ready to go and looking forward to this. We have had a lot of good matches over the years with Rice and are excited to compete tomorrow."
