Amy ’84 & Tim Leach ’82 Honored for Lead Gift to R.A. “Murray” Fasken ’38 Indoor Track & Field Facility

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The 12th Man Foundation and Texas A&M Athletics proudly recognize Amy '84 and Tim Leach '82 for their generous contribution toward the construction of the new R.A. "Murray" Fasken '38 Indoor Track & Field.
Construction on the facility, which hosted its first meet on Jan. 13, 2024, began just over one year ago as part of the historic, $120 million Centennial Campaign. The lead gift from Amy and Tim Leach, along with additional support from fellow 12th Man Foundation donors, played a pivotal role in bringing the facility to fruition.
"What a beautiful indoor facility," said head coach Pat Henry. "With E.B. Cushing Stadium and now the R.A. "Murray" Fasken '38 Indoor Track & Field facility, Texas A&M can say, without a doubt, we have the finest track and field complex in the country. Speaking for not only myself but my staff and athletes, we are appreciative, thankful and blessed to have an administration, from the chancellor and president to the Board of Regents to our athletics administration, who I can say all care deeply about our sport.
"This indoor facility stands out among the best in the nation, and in our opening meets I've been blown away by the support of our fans and the performances of our team. We can't thank all those involved enough for their continued support of our program."
The Leaches chose to honor R.A. "Murray" Fasken in the naming of the new facility. A 1938 graduate of Texas A&M, Fasken was one of the school's earliest benefactors who quietly supported both academics and athletics. Fasken served in the United States Army from 1941-46 before beginning a distinguished banking career in Midland. In 1955, he established The Fasken Foundation to carry on the family heritage of philanthropy.
"Murray Fasken was one of the most influential leaders and philanthropists at Texas A&M over the last century," said Tim Leach. "He led and supported programs in such a way that many Aggies have never heard of his legacy. I am very pleased that his name will be attached to this new, state-of-the-art track and field facility on our campus so that he will always be remembered."
Amy and Tim Leach have been significant investors across Texas A&M's campus. The couple made a lead gift as founding donors for the historic redevelopment of Kyle Field and helped fund the Leach Teaching Gardens and the renovation of the Zachry Engineering Education Complex.
With their lead gift for the construction of E.B. Cushing Stadium in 2019, the Leaches opted to use their naming rights on the Aggies' beautiful outdoor track and field facility to honor Cushing, a former chairman of the Board of Regents who helped save A&M from consolidation with the University of Texas in 1912 by personally bankrolling the young college.
In addition to their financial support, the couple served as co-chairs of the university's $4 billion Lead by Example campaign, and Tim served on the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents from 2017-23 including a tenure as chair from 2021-23. He was named a Distinguished Alumnus by The Association of Former Students in 2020.
"Amy and Tim Leach have made an extraordinary impact on Texas A&M University and Texas A&M Athletics," said 12th Man Foundation President and CEO Travis Dabney. "We are honored to celebrate their incredible commitment to this facility and are deeply appreciative for their selfless service and philanthropy in support of our university."
The new indoor home of the nine-time national champion Texas A&M Track & Field program was officially celebrated on Feb. 2, prior to the Charlie Thomas Invitational.
