
Track & Field Travels to Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH – The Texas A&M track & field team stays on the road for the second week of the outdoor season as it heads to the Raleigh Relays at the Paul Derr Track & Field facility, March 26-28.
The Aggies make their return to the Raleigh Relays after a successful appearance last year, where the group broke one school record and set six all-time marks. Seven of the athletes that competed last season will return this year, while another five make their debut appearance in Raleigh.
Last Time Out
The Maroon & White began their outdoor campaign at the UTSA Invitational securing 12 wins over the weekend. The first day of the meet the group claimed four event titles and eight on the final day. The Aggies dominated in the field capturing eight wins as the track saw four wins.
Etoro Bassey highlighted the field contingent after leaping the best mark in the nation in the high jump on the opening week of action. The freshman cleared 2.19m/7-2.25 to rank No. 6 in the A&M record book and earned SEC Men's Freshman of the Week honors.
The Maroon & White Continued to stack wins in the field courtesy of Sam Hankins in the men's javelin and Katelyn Fairchild women's javelin. Carlie Wieser and Abigail Martin each secured an event title in the women's shot put and discus, respectively, while the final three victories came from Ava Riche (pole vault), Jaydon Shield (triple jump) and Khybah Dawson (long jump).
Jahnile Registre added to A&M's weekly awards, as she secured her first SEC honor of the season after being named Women's Runner of the Week. She anchored the winning 4x400m relay team whose time is No. 1 nationally (3:33.16) and clocked the second-fastest time in the nation in the 400m (52.15).
The group on the track wrapped up the meet with three more victories, including Jasmine Montgomery in the 100m and a pair of relays including the women's 4x100m contingent and men's 4x400m team.
