Feb 23, 2024 | Softball
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Fightin' Texas Aggie softball team increased the winning streak to 12 games after a pair of run-rule affairs against St. Thomas, 10-2, and North Dakota State, 10-0, Friday night at Davis Diamond.
Texas A&M (12-0) showcased its dominance at the plate hitting 20-for-41 and driving in 20 runs in eight innings of offense between the two games. The Aggie pitching staff, backed by a defense that had SportsCenter on speed dial, kept the St. Thomas Tommies (1-11) and North Dakota State Bison (6-8) offensive threats at bay. In total, opposing hitters averaged .182 at the plate and mustered only six hits in 33 plate at-bats. Emily Leavitt led the staff in strikeouts with six.
Allie Enright and Jazmine Hill led Ol' Sarge's offensive attack as the duo drove in 12 of the team's 20 RBI. Enright's highlight reel came in the fourth frame against NDSU as she recorded six RBI after a three-run home run and a three-run double. Hill added to the attack in the inning with an RBI-single as the Aggies threatened to end the night early with nine runs putting the run-rule in effect.
Hill powered the Maroon & White in game one against the Tommies with two round trippers, including a 257-foot two-run tater in the opening frame to give the Aggies a 3-2 lead. A&M added six runs the following inning, including Hill's second two-run dinger of the game.
