Texas A&M (15-1) is set to play five games in three days, including a pair of games against the Wolverines (10-4) and Long Beach State (1-13) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Friday features a 5 p.m. matchup with Weber State (8-7), followed by host Cal State Fullerton (9-6) at 9:30 p.m., which can be streamed on ESPN+. The Aggies finish the weekend on Saturday against DePaul (3-11) at 7 p.m.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
Texas A&M boasts a top 25 ranking in all four nationally recognized polls, including No. 17 in NFCA, No. 18 in ESPN/USA Softball, No. 19 in Softball America and tied No. 21 in the D1 Softball rankings. The Aggies are top 20 in the nation in numerous categories, including the sixth best strikeout-to-walk ratio at 4.95 and the seventh most home runs with 24. The pitching staff is ranked No. 11 in the country in ERA (1.32), while the offense is No. 12 in slugging percentage (.608), No. 16 in on-base percentage (.439) and No. 19 in batting average (.343). Individually, Emiley Kennedy leads the nation with four shutouts, while her seven wins are third most and 56 strikeouts are eighth most. The junior owns a 0.64 ERA, good enough for 26th best in country. Allie Enright ranks No. 8 in doubles (8), No. 9 in slugging percentage (1.077) and No. 12 in RBI (21), while Jazmine Hill boasts the 15th best on-base percentage (.620).
IT STARTS AND ENDS IN THE CIRCLE
The Maroon & White pitching staff has reaped the benefits of head coach Trisha Ford's mentoring as the group boasts a 1.32 ERA, while holding opposing batters to a .186 average. The quartet of Kennedy, Shaylee Ackerman, Emily Leavitt and Brooke Vestal have yielded only 22 free bases in 101.0 innings of work.
NO AGGIE LEFT BEHIND
Ol' Sarge's charges are batting .667 at the plate with runners on third and less than two outs, as well as hitting .329 with runners in scoring position. Most notably, Hill (.545) and Enright (.529) are each batting over 500 with runners in scoring position.
CALIFORNIA LOVIN'
The Judi Garman Classic marks the second trip for Texas A&M to the Golden State. The Aggies finished undefeated, 5-0, and claimed two wins over No. 14 Oregon at the Campbell/Cartier Classic in San Diego two weeks ago. Texas A&M is visiting familiar territory as seven players and three coaches on the roster hail from California, including three from Hanford (Jeff Harger, Russ Heffley, Gracyn Coleman) and two from Corona (Amari Harper, Mya Perez). Others returning to their home state include, head coach Trisha Ford (Fremont) and players Enright (Santa Clarita), Hill (Norwalk), Leavitt (Chino) and Sav Price (Rio Linda).
HOW TO FOLLOW
All Aggie softball games can be heard on the 12th Man Mobile app or locally on Gospel 97.3 with Matt Simon as the play-by-play voice in his 10th season with Texas A&M softball. Friday's game against Cal State Fullerton will be streamed on ESPN+.
