No. 12 Men’s Tennis Falls to Florida, 4-0, to Start SEC Play
Mar 01, 2024 | Men's Tennis
GAINESVILLE – The No. 12 Texas A&M men's tennis team fell to the Florida Gators, 4-0, on Friday at the Perry Indoor Tennis Facility.
"Give Florida credit, they played better than we did today," head coach Steve Denton said. "We have to be up for all of these matches this season in the SEC. Need to move on and get ready for another fight on Sunday and have to play the big points better overall."
Due to inclement weather, the SEC opener was moved to the Florida indoor facility. Once the match began, the Aggies (9-3) got off to a slow start after losses on courts 2 and 3 in doubles play to go down 1-0 heading into singles action.
The Gators (5-4) built on their early momentum and clinched the victory, 4-0.
Due to the indoor facility only having three courts, four singles matches were played with the final two never starting due to Florida clinching.
The Maroon & White return to action, traveling to Columbia, South Carolina, to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks on Sunday, March 3.
