
Aggies Shine on Final Day of Carolina Spring Break Classic

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The Texas A&M track & field team wrapped up competition at the Carolina Spring Break Classic picking up 13 event wins, six all-time marks, five meet records and 11 personal best performances Saturday at the Pista Atletica Basilio Rodriguez.
Sam Hankins was the first Aggie to rise in the all-time ranks in the men's javelin. He threw a personal best and meet record 77.95m/255-9 to win the event, jumping him a spot on the A&M all-time list to No. 3. Carter Bajoit also climbed to the No. 3 spot in the men's high jump with a huge personal best leap of 2.25m/7-4.5 which also tied the meet record. Kimar Farquharson entered the outdoor 800m ranks at No. 6 after running the nation's leading time of 1:46.20 on the way to the event win and meet record. Sam Whitmarsh made his 1500m debut and shot to the No. 9 spot, winning the event in a meet record time of 3:44.51, while his teammate Victor Kibiego finished the event third in 3:45.10 which was good for No. 12 in team history. Carlie Weiser was the final new entry to the all-time performers list, doing so in the women's shot put with an event-winning toss of 15.28m/50-1.75 to rank No. 8.
The women claimed another six event wins on the final day. Lianna Davidson picked up where she left off last season, as she threw a meet record mark of 57.28m/187-11 in the javelin. Camryn Dickson secured her first individual win of the outdoor season in the 100m, crossing the line in 11.51. Also on the track, Jaiya Covington ran 13.20 in the 100m hurdles to kickstart her outdoor campaign. Jermaisha Arnold carried her indoor success to the outdoor track, as she ran 36.41 for the win in the 300m. Jade Johnson added the final individual title for the women on the day in the triple jump, leaping 12.63m/41-5.25. The 4x400m relay tandem of Nissi Kabongo, Leeah Burr, Timara Chapman and Kennedy Wade won the final event for the Maroon & White in 3:37.20.
Bryce McCray ensured one of the final three event wins for the men in the 400m hurdles, registering a time of 50.12. Auhmad Robinson put on a show in the 300m, running 32.06 for his victory. Bryce Foster accounted for the final title in the shot put, he tossed a meet record 17.68m/58-0.25 to claim the win.
Another eight Aggies put out personal best showings on the final day of the meet. The men accounted for five of the eight bests, with Connor Schulman leading the way running 10.72 in the 100m. Cooper Cawthra crossed the line in 1:49.02 in the men's 800m, Blake Harris finished the 110m hurdles in a best of 14.59, while Eric Casarez and Jonathan Chung ran 3:46.19 and 3:56.49 in the 1500m, respectively. For the women, Chapman logged two bests on the day in the 100m hurdles (13.79) and javelin (44.51m/146-0), while Victoria De La Garza had her best showing in the javelin with a throw of 37.17m/121-11.
