No. 11 Men’s Tennis Falls to Auburn, 5-2
Apr 12, 2024 | Men's Tennis
AUBURN – The No. 11 Texas A&M men's tennis team fell to the Auburn Tigers, 5-2, Friday at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
"I thought it was a tough match today," head coach Steve Denton said. "Auburn ended up winning all three setters, which was the difference in the match. Congratulations to them on turning those matches in their favor. We need to put this behind us and get ready for Sunday against another good team in Alabama."
The Aggies (18-8, 7-4 SEC) got off to a slow start after losses on courts 1 and 3 in doubles play to go down 1-0 heading into singles action.
Togan Tokac secured the first point for the Maroon & White in singles, winning in straight sets on court 4 against Alejandro Moreno (6-1, 6-3). Luke Casper continued that momentum and earned a victory over Nicholas Heng on court 5 (7-6 (8-6), 6-2). The Tigers (16-9, 6-5 SEC) responded with wins on courts 2, 3 and 6 to clinch the match.
The Aggies head to Tuscaloosa to take on the No. 22 Alabama Crimson Tide, Sunday, April 14 at 1 p.m. to wrap up the regular season.
