Aggies Erase Four-run Deficit to Walk-Off Kentucky, 5-4

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 14 Texas A&M softball team erased a four-run deficit to walk-off Kentucky, 5-4, Friday night in the series opener at Davis Diamond.
Texas A&M (30-7, 9-4 SEC) trailed Kentucky (23-13, 2-8 SEC) 4-0 after two innings of play before the Aggies chipped away at the deficit with a crooked inning in the bottom of the third scoring three runs on two hits and one error. The Maroon & White evened the score the following inning as sophomore Gracyn Coleman doubled to right center and later scored on a throwing error.
A pitching duel ensued as the teams traded scoreless innings, including Aggie starter Emiley Kennedy retiring 16 batters consecutively after allowing two hits in the first two frames. Texas A&M took advantage of a Kentucky miscue as junior Koko Wooley reached first on a wild pitch following a swinging strikeout before stealing second base. Graduate Jazmine Hill ended the game with a team-leading eighth double to left field to score Wooley.
Kennedy earned win No. 15, while tossing her 15th complete game of the season. The junior registered six strikeouts, while yielding four runs on two hits and one walk. Kennedy becomes the first Aggie pitcher to earn 15 wins in a season since Samantha Show in 2017.
